CARMICHAEL, CA - Two Carmichael preschools were burned in consecutive days in what the Sac Metro Fire Dept. is classifying as "suspicious" incidents.

Assistant Fire Chief Walt White said the first fire was reported atthe Phoenix Preschool at 2921 Garfield Ave. around 11:13 p.m. on Friday. Upon arrival at the scene, crews found the structure fully involved.

Firefighters extinguished the fire before it spread to adjacent properties, but the building's interior was completely destroyed, said White.

Then early on Saturday morning, firefighters responded to a call at a Montessori Preschool at 5619 Marconi Blvd. and found the building engulfed in flames. Crews were able to extinguish the blaze before it spread, but as in the case of Friday'sfire, the structure was completely gutted, said White.

The cause of both fires was being investigated, but preliminary findings indicate both fires were suspicious and appeared to be intentionally set, according to White.

Nobody was injured in either of the fires.

Anyone with information on either of the incidents was asked to call the Metro Fire arson tip line at 916-859-3775.
