SACRAMENTO, CA- A security guard is recovering after being shot in the face with a flare gun early Sunday morning.

The security guard had spotted a man firing a flare gun at a building on 2nd Street near K Street a little after midnight.

The security guard chased the man, who has been identified as Gregory Griffin. At one point, Griffin turned around and shot the flare gun at the security guard.

Sacrament police were called in to assist. The guard continued to chase Griffin and was able to catch him.

Griffen was booked by police for assault with a deadly weapon.

The guard sustained injuries and was transported to a local hospital where he is said to be in fair condition.
