FOOTHILL FARMS, CA - The friends of an 18-year-old, who was shot and killed in a Foothill Farms neighborhood on Wednesday morning, said the victim was celebrating his birthday just moments before the shooting.

The Coroner's office identified the teen as Jacob Green of Sacramento.

"He was a good dude. He didn't deserve it to happen," Green's friend Cheapell Morris.

Green was shot around 3 a.m. during an altercation with a man outside a home on the 5200 block of Karm Way, according to Sacramento County sheriff's deputy Jason Ramos.

According to Ramos, the alleged shooter, a man in his 30s, stayed at the home while Green left the scene in a car with friends.

A deputy later pulled over the car on Greenback Lane in Citrus Heights for traveling at a high rate of speed. When deputies noticed Green's injuries an ambulance was called for help. Green was rushed to the hospital where he later died, Ramos said.

"My little brother actually held him in his arms when he passed,"said Green's friend Nemo, who gathered with other friends near the shooting scene on Wednesday afternoon.

The suspected shooter was detained along with two women who were at the Karm Way home at the time of the shooting. Two men in the car transporting Green were also detained, said Ramos.

Ramos said Green went to the Karm Way home, which is a few doors away from Green's sister's home, to talk with a woman outside and the conversation escalated into an argument. The alleged gunman then came to the front door with a handgun.

Several witnesses to the argument said Green made threats and when he began to move toward the man at the door, the latter, fearing for his safety, fired one shot at Green.

"He's not an intruder. He was there for someone. He was there for his girlfriend," Green's friend Aaliyah Andrews said. "He came there for her, it's not liked he knocked on somebody's door for nothing."

At this time, there have been no arrests.

"That was my little brother, he never hurt nobody," Nemo said."He always looked out for us."

Karm Way in Foothill Farms and a section of Greenback Lane in Citrus Heights were closed for several hours while officers investigated the incidents.
