SACRAMENTO - You've got until the end of Tuesday, April 17 to file your taxes and if need be, send Uncle Sam a check. Tax returns need to be postmarked by 11:59 p.m.

Tax day is one of the busiest days of the year for the U.S. Postal Service. Ralph Petty, Customer Relations Coordinator for the Sacramento District of the Postal Service, says the West Sacramento processing center will likely sort one million pieces of mail today, double the average.

The West Sacramento Post Office, at 3775 Industrial Blvd., is open for both lobby services and mail collecting until Midnight. The Stockton Post Office, at 3131 Arch Airport Rd., is open for collection of mail only until 10 p.m. All other Sacramento area post offices will close at 5 p.m.
