The Fifty Shades of Grey trailer – the most viewed movie trailer of the year so far – is making readers hot and bothered all over again for E.L. James' erotic trilogy.
Fifty Shades of Grey leaps from No. 89 to No. 4 on USA TODAY's Best-Selling Books list; while Fifty Shades Trilogy Bundle, Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed all return to the list at Nos. 19, 42 and 63, respectively.
James' "bondage and discipline" series dominated USA TODAY's best-seller list in 2012, when Fifty Shades of Grey was No. 1 for 20 straight weeks, a record.
Now Fifty Shades madness is back. The trailer, released on July 24, has racked up more than 36 million YouTube views, according to technology firm Zefr.
Stars Dakota Johnson (Anastasia Steele) and Jamie Dornan (Christian Grey) appeared on the Today show to launch the trailer, with Johnson offering a clinical description of shooting the sex scenes. "It's not like a romantic situation. It's more technical and choreographed. It's like more of a task," she said.
The movie, aimed at the Valentine's Day crowd, is due in February.
