Jack White's Third Man Records is venturing into the world of publishing.

The musician, formerly of The White Stripes, is launching Third Man Books, a publishing imprint that will be "fearless, imaginative and eclectic," according to its website. It goes on to say, "We hope to be a welcome addition to what is already a very compelling and thrilling independent American literary landscape."

Third Man Books' first release is a 321-page collection of poetry and prose, complete with two vinyl records. The book will feature contributions from an assortment of musicians, authors and poets, including Pulitzer Prize finalist Adrian Matejka. It is co-edited by poet/musican Chet Weise and Third Man co-founder Ben Swank. The records will include as-yet-unheard material from musicians including William Tyler, Destruction Unit, Ken Vandermark and Paul "Wine" Jones.

The $50 book arrives on bookshelves Aug. 5 but is available for pre-order now.
