SACRAMENTO - Thousands of fans will converge on the Sacramento Convention Center this weekend at Sacramento ComicCon. The inaugural Wizard World ComicCon, a huge comic and pop-culture festival, officially starts Friday.
Lots of devoted fans got an early start thanks to a special screening of the movie 300: Rise of the an Empire that premiered at Esquire IMAX Theatre Thursday night.
Sacramento Comic Con brings it all - movies, comics, horror - plus, big stars and big names.
Jason David Frank, who's played several different Power Rangers, came out Thursday to meet and greet his fans. Lou Ferrigno, who played the Hulk, also made special red carpet appearance. Star Trek actor William Shatner is turning out Saturday to sign autographs. Stan Lee, comic book icon, will also be at the convention on Saturday.
Wizard World is also a chance for many folks to dress up as their favorite characters and action heroes.
"I look it as a place where comic books are, famous stars are, place for me to dress up," attendee Jamie Fields said.
"I think it's really exciting. I think its good for Sacramento," attendee Bobby Solorio said. "Good for nerds like me who can freak out over this stuff! We can get together and experience all the other things in pop culture."
About 10,000 attendees are expected this weekend at the Convention Center for ComicCon. The is event is almost sold out. Organizers said you can purchase remaining tickets online. Sacramento Wizard World ComicCon runs through Sunday.
