New York, NY (Sports Network) - Chicago Fire forward Guillermo Franco was
suspended one additional match and fined an undisclosed amount for endangering
the safety of his opponent, MLS announced Thursday.
Franco committed a "reckless challenge" on Philadelphia Union midfielder Brian
Carroll in the 78th minute of their match Wednesday. He earned a red card, but
was given the additional punishment by the MLS Disciplinary Committee.
He will serve the first game of his suspension Saturday when Chicago visit Red
Bull New York and miss the Oct. 20 match against the New England Revolution.
