Houston, TX (Sports Network) - Kevin Martin led all scorers with 17 points on
6-of-11 shooting for the Houston Rockets, who dropped the New Orleans Hornets
in a 95-75 drubbing to hand them their first loss of the preseason.
Fellow starters Patrick Patterson and Chandler Parsons each poured in 10
points apiece for Houston, while former New York Knicks sensation Jeremy Lin
netted nine points and dished out seven assists as the Rockets won their
second consecutive game.
Donatas Motiejunas finished with 13 points on 6-of-10 shooting and off-season
acquisition Toney Douglas scored 11 points off the bench for the Rockets.
After winning their first three games, the Hornets fell for the first time in
the Anthony Davis era. The rookie center did not play, sitting with an injured
groin.
Al-Farouq Aminu led the way for New Orleans with 15 points and Robin Lopez
added 11 while collecting eight rebounds. Greivis Vasquez shot just 4-of-13
from the field and had a game-high five turnovers in the loss, but finished
with 10 points, five rebounds, five assists and three steals.
The Hornets trailed just 48-41 at halftime, but mustered only 10 points in the
third quarter to the Rockets' 22, breaking the game open.
New Orleans was playing its fourth game in six days, but won't be in action
again until Thursday, when the Hornets take on the Atlanta Hawks. The Rockets
will take on the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday.
