Mount Pleasant, MI (Sports Network) - Keenan Reynolds had three touchdown
passes as Navy swamped Central Michigan, 31-13, on Friday.
Reynolds went 6-for-11 with 134 yards and added 59 yards on 24 carries for the
Midshipmen (3-3), who have won their past two games. Gee Gee Greene caught two
touchdown passes while Brandon Turner caught the other and Prentice Christian
added a score on the ground.
Ryan Radcliff passed for 139 yards and a touchdown on 11-of-19 passing for the
Chippewas (2-4), who have dropped three straight since a win in Iowa on Sept.
22.
Navy started the game with the ball and struck just over three minutes in, as
Reynolds hit Turner in the end zone for a 23-yard score and a 7-0 lead.
Central Michigan countered with a 29-yard field goal from David Harman with
8:32 left in the first.
The Midshipmen marched back down the field on an 11-play drive that took close
to five minutes and Reynolds' second touchdown pass of the game was caught by
Greene near the goalline and he took it in for a 14-3 lead.
Much of the second quarter passed scoreless until Nick Sloan hit a 37-yard
field goal with 3:10 to play for a 17-3 game.
The Chippewas were finally able to put the ball in the end zone on their
ensuing drive as the sixth play of the series saw Titus Davis catch the ball
at the 5-yard line and spin around a defender before going in for a 29-yard
score to make it a 17-10 game at the break.
Central Michigan was able to get closer with the first touch of the second
half as Harman hit a 22-yard field goal with 9:37 left in the third to make it
a 17-13 game, but that was as close as it got.
Navy came right back down the field with a 61-yard drive and the 11th snap saw
Christian take the ball into the end zone from two yards out for a 24-13 lead
with 4:08 left in the third.
After holding Central Michigan to a three-and-out, Navy got the ball back at
the Central Michigan 41 and the first play saw Reynolds and Greene hook up for
another score and a 31-13 advantage.
