Monroe, LA (Sports Network) - T.J. Price scored a career-high 30 points as the
Western Kentucky Hilltoppers pulled off a 65-54 road victory over the ULM
Warhawks in a Sun Belt Conference tilt at the Fant-Ewing Coliseum.
Price connected on 10-of-19 shots while knocking down 5-of-11 from three-point
range for WKU (5-2, 1-0 Sun Belt). He also grabbed six rebounds, dished out
three assists and blocked three shots.
Amos Olatayo did everything he could to keep ULM (0-3, 0-1) in the game but
his 21 points were not enough. Millaun Brown contributed 11 on 5-of-8 shooting
from the field while Jayon James filled the stat sheet with seven points,
eight rebounds and six assists.
WKU jumped out to a quick lead thanks to four three-pointers from Price in the
first eight minutes of the contest. The Hilltoppers went cold late in the half
and ULM took advantage, fighting back from eight down to trail just 32-30 at
intermission.
The Warhawks trailed until the 10:44 mark of the second half at which point
they tied the game on a James put-back layup. But the Hilltoppers responded
with an 11-3 run to regain control, and late free throws from Price sealed it.
Western Kentucky has now won five of its last six conference openers. The
Hilltoppers improve to 8-1 all-time against the Warhawks.
