East Rutherford, NJ (Sports Network) - The New York Giants activated defensive
tackle Chris Canty from the reserve/physically unable to perform list on
Saturday.
Canty had offseason knee surgery after starting all 16 regular-season games
last year at right defensive tackle. He is expected to make his 2012 debut on
Sunday against the Washington Redskins.
"He's in outstanding shape, condition wise. He hasn't been hit, obviously, but
we'll come up with the right formula," Giants coach Tom Coughlin said on
Friday.
The Virginia product has 246 tackles and 16 sacks in 104 career games with the
Cowboys and Giants.
New York also placed running back Da'Rel Scott on injured reserve.
