NAPA, CA - Oakland Raiders running back Mike Goodson suffered a neck injury during Tuesday's practice after an apparent helmet-to-helmet hit with linebacker Philip Wheeler.
Goodson caught a short pass during an individual drill and turned up field before being hit by Wheeler, according to multiple reports. He was strapped to a backboard before being loaded into an ambulance and taken to an undisclosed hospital.
"Mike Goodson had a neck injury; we're not sure of the extent of it right now," Raiders coach Dennis Allen said after practice, according to the San Jose Mercury News. "He did have feeling in his extremities, which is good news. We'll monitor that throughout the night."
Goodson, acquired in a trade from Carolina earlier this year, has been competing with Taiwan Jones for the backup spot behind starter Darren McFadden.
