LAS VEGAS, NV - A day after an embarrassing performance, even by NBA Summer League standards, in a loss to the Charlotte Bobcats on Friday, the Sacramento Kings won their first game of their five game schedule on Saturday, defeating the Los Angeles Lakers 84-72.

Josh Akognon, a rookie guard from Cal State Fullerton led Sacramento in scoring with 25 points on 10-of-16 shooting. Impressively, he played 22 minutes and didn't get in the game in the first quarter, but dropped 14 points in the second period alone.

Akognon played in the NBA's D-League last year for the Canton Charge.

Sacramento's victory brings the Kings summer record to 1-1 after they were blown-out by the Bobcats 121-87 the day before.

Jimmer Fredette had another tough outing at the point guard for Sacramento, despite finishing with 15 points in the victory. He struggled to find his shot for the second straight game, finishing 3-of-11 from the floor and only 1-of-6 form beyond the arc.

With two Summer League games in consecutive days under his belt, Fredette is just 5-of-22 and a dreadful 1-of-14 from three point land.

"It was a lot better to get a win, it felt great," Fredette told News10 following the victory. "It felt like I played a lot better, but still, the ball didn't go in, sometimes."

Kings rookie Thomas Robinson concluded his second game with his new Sacramento team by finishing with a double-double of 14 points and 12 rebounds.

On Sunday the Kings will have an off day, sort of.

They will hold a team scrimmage at a near by Las Vegas high school against the Memphis Grizzlies.

The Kings resume their Summer League schedule on Monday, July 16 at 3:30 p.m. against the Houston Rockets.
