Oakland recalls 1B Carter, sends down RHP Ross

ARLINGTON, TX - The Oakland Athletics have recalled first baseman Chris Carter from Triple-A Sacramento.

Oakland made the move Friday and had Carter in the starting lineup for his season debut in that night's game at Texas.

Right-hander Tyson Ross (2-8, 6.35) was optioned to Sacramento a day after he lost his fifth straight decision. He allowed five runs and eight hits in four innings in a 7-6 loss to the Rangers.

Carter was hitting .279 with 12 homers and 53 RBIs in 72 games with the Sacramento River Cats. He hit .386 with 11 runs scored his past 11 games.

In 39 games the previous two seasons with Oakland, Carter hit .167 with three homers and seven RBIs.
