Many speculated Thompson made the switch after then Golden Bears defensive line coach Tosh Lupoi became the defensive coordinator for the Huskies.
"I didn't leave Cal because of one coach," Thompson told News10 hoping to clear the air. "It was where I felt the most comfortable, and Washington was the best fit for me educational wise."
Thompson will major in sports medicine and will also join his former Pacers teammate and friend James Sample who plays safety for Washington. The signing, a major relief for the blue chip star.
"I felt like the devil is off of me now, Jesus is raising me up and I feel good," said Thompson
The Grant Pacers offensive lineman Chales Faraimo also signed his college letter of intent to play for Nevada.
