Whitney Wildcats Jalen Cope-Fitzpatrick signs his letter of intent to play for USC.

ROCKLIN - Whitney Wildcats quarterback Jake Rodrigues was the only missing piece in this morning's national signing day ceremony as three other student athlete's signed their college letter of intents.

"We should have had a cardboard cutout of Jake," joked Wildcats head football coach Mike Gimenez.

Rodrigues who will play football for the University of Oregon had graduated from high school early and was already enrolled in classes in Eugene.

Wildcats tight end Jalen Cope-Fitzpatrick was the other top-prospect out of Whitney High School.  He gave his verbal commitment to USC last June and made his choice offical this morning.

"Why not USC," when asked why he chose Southern California. " USC kind of runs California academically and also with football we are back in business."

Rodrigues and Cope-Fitzpatrick were not the only students heading to the Pac-12. Loree Olson, an all-american swimmer, will attend Washington State. Corey Palin who played wide receiver for the Whitney will attend Butler University.
