Southbound Interstate 5 was blocked for several hours Saturday morning by a big rig that had rolled onto its side following a crash.
The California Highway Patrol said at about 9:15 a.m. a man driving a Nissan 370 lost control of his car on the onramp from the Garden Highway to southbound Interstate 5. His car was struck by the big rig, which had been travelling south on Interstate 5.
The big rig then struck two other cars and overturned, blocking all four lanes of the interstate. Empty plastic crates from its trailer spilled onto the roadway.
The accident was cleared from the Interstate and all lanes had reopened by 1 p.m., the highway patrol said.
