LODI, CA - Police in Lodi would like to locate the man who was captured on a home security camera system attempting to talk to the 11-year-boy playing in the driveway.
The boy told his parents the man said two things: "Hey, come here" and "Is your mom or dad home?"
In the video, the boy is seen quickly running away and going inside his home. The driver backs up a few feet, then continues to sit in front of the house for several moments before finally driving off.
"He'll get caught. The car will be seen again somewhere," said J.P. Vaz, the father of the boy.
J.P. was out walking the dog at the time and got home shortly after the contact.
"He (his son) came out and was hysterical and crying. He said some guy pulled up and was 'trying to get me,'" said Vaz.
Police can't be certain of the man's intentions until he's located.
"It's certainly very suspicious when a male asks a young child, 11 years old, if their parents are home while playing in the yard. We're taking it very seriously and we're doing everything we can to track down who was in that vehicle and what the intent was," said Lodi police Lt. Sierra Brucia.
The Vazes circulated the video of the incident among friends and neighbors to make them aware.
The driver was described as white, bald and about 40 years old. His car was small and red.
