Sacramento's top chefs celebrated National Cheeseburger Day by showcasing their best burgers at the 2nd Sacramento Burger Battle on Wednesday.
This year's winners were:
- Restaurant Thir13en
- Broderick Roadhouse
- de Vere's Irish Pub
- Formoli's Bistro
The Ettores burger use Niman ranch beef, jalapeno and cheddar all between a scallion bun with caramelized onions, mixed mushrooms, Swiss cheese, pancetta bacon, smashed avocado, micro-radish heirloom tomatoes and basil aioli. The chef from Ettores is headed to Las Vegas to compete in the world food championships.

The sold-out event was held at Raley Field and included last year's Burger Battle Champion the Chef's Table from Rocklin and People's Choice winner Krush Burger.
Also competing this year were Bacon & Butter, Ettore's European Bakery & Restaurant, de Vere's Irish Pub, Broderock Restaurant and Bar, Ten22, Willie's Burgers, Capitol Garage, Relish Burger Bar, The Eatery, Papa Dale's, Roxy Restaurant & Bar, Formoli's Bistro and Restaurant Thir13en.
Judging this year were Chef Patrick Mulvaney, Sacramento Bee food and wine writer Chris Macias, Chef Randall Selland, Corti Brothers store director Rick Mindermann, LA Times food editor and columnist Russ Parsons and San Diego food writer Erin Jackson.
Last year's event raised more than $27,000 for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America.
