NEW ORLEANS - Reality TV star Gia Allemand has died, ABC confirmed.
According to a statement from her publicist Tuesday, Allemand, 29, was taken Monday night to a New Orleans hospital following "a serious emergency medical event."
ABC reports Allemand died after an apparent suicide attempt. Allemand publicist Penelope Jean Hayes said Allemand had been unconscious at the hospital, in critical condition and on life support. Allemand was taken off life support Wednesday.
The former model appeared in ABC's "The Bachelor" and "The Bachelor Pad". She was the girlfriend of New Orleans Pelicans basketball player Ryan Anderson.
Anderson is a native of El Dorado Hills and was a fomer star at Oak Ridge High School.
