SACRAMENTO, CA - The unemployment rate in California in January remained unchanged from December at 9.8 percent, according to a federal survey released by the state Employment Development Department.
The monthly survey is compiled from information provided by 5,500 California households.
Some 1,700 non-farm, payroll jobs were added in January, per another survey of 42,000 California businesses.
From January 2012 through January 2013, California added 254,900 jobs.
The January 2012 jobless state rate was 11 percent.
