Rendering of proposed $131 million Marriott Hotel and conference center in West Sacramento.
WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. -A Dallas-based development group is proposing a major project on the vacant grounds surrounding Raley Field in West Sacramento.
The group is awaiting approval on their plans to construct an 11-story, $131 million Marriott hotel and conference center. If approved, crews could break ground on the 343-room hotel as soon as next year.
However, city officials have said the hotel likely will not be built without some type of major public subsidy, which could throw up a major roadblock in the path of the project.
The council will be getting a briefing on the project Wednesday.
