RENO, Nev. (AP) - Some Sierra Nevada ski resort operators say a string of recent snowstorms is luring skiers and snowboarders back to the slopes after a dry start to the new year.

Kayla Anderson of Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe near Reno told KTVN-TV that more than a foot of new snow last week revived interest in skiing after a two-month dry spell.

Heavenly Mountain Resort on Lake Tahoe's south shore reports 26 inches of snow from last week's storms.

The Sierra skiing season got off to a strong start after powerful storms dropped the second-largest amount of snow by Christmas at some Tahoe resorts since 1970. But little snow had fallen until last week. Resort operators are hoping for a few more storms and a busy March on the slopes.
