SACRAMENTO, CA - The air traffic control tower at Sacramento Executive Airport is set to close on April 7, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
The closure is a result of federal government spending cuts which started taking effect March 1.
The tower is staffed by contracted air traffic controllers, not FAA employees, according to a CNN report.
The Stockton Airport tower was on the original FAA list of 173 towers to be closed; but, the airport director said the FAA reduced the number of towers on the list and Stockton was not on the revised list.
