LOS ANGELES - Some of the nation's busiest airports are already seeing longer lines due to the sequester budget cuts that just went into effect.

Secretary of Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano, is telling anyone flying out to get to the airport extra early.  Long lines have already been reported at LAX, Atlanta International airport, and Chicago's O'hare, where on top of the cuts, the airport is seeing hundreds of cancellations in advance of a winter storm.

One passenger who went through O'hare said it took him an hour to get through customs and it appeared the wait time was growing.

Napolitano says this could just be the start of it all.  Furlough notices will be going out to customs employees later this week.

The TSA is expecting longer wait times in the spring because the agency won't be able to fill up to 1,000 personnel vacancies by Memorial Day weekend.

Napolitano requested that frustrated passengers do not yell at the customs or TSA officers. She says the sequester is not their fault.
