LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- A man was arrested after police say he stole nearly $500 worth of Red Bull energy drinks from a grocery story by stuffing them in his pants.
Justin Stumler, 21, was arrested Wednesday on charges he stole the soft drinks, which would work out to about 240 cans at about $2 per can, weighing about 160 pounds.
The Louisville Metro Police report said he stole the drinks in six-pack bundles and does not explain how Stumler was able to fit that much Red Bull in his pants.
Stumler was apprehended after attempting to steal $174.72 in merchandise, also in his pants, from a separate market, the police report said. He tried to walk out of the store with 28 items in his pants but an employee stopped him until police arrived, the report said.
It was then that Stumler was also served an arrest warrant charging him with the Jan. 23 Red Bull theft, Louisville Metro Police spokeswoman Carey Klain said. He was charged with two counts of shoplifting and third-degree criminal trespass.
Stumler has had prior run-ins at Kroger and was ordered by a judge on Jan. 21 to stay away from the chain's stores.
