FAIRFIELD, Calif. (AP) - A woman is under arrest on suspicion of posing a doctor and stealing the credit cards from hospitals throughout Northern California.

The Santa Cruz Sentinel reports that Fairfield police arrested 49-year-old Yolanda Smith on Monday after the woman was recognized by a hospital security guard.

Police say Smith donned a white lab coat and pretended to be a doctor at hospitals in Daly City, Tracy, Gilroy, Santa Cruz and other communities.

Authorities say Smith on Jan. 2 stole nurses' credit cards after walking into a neonatal care unit of Dominican Hospital in Santa Cruz. The nurses noticed the missing cards after police say Smith charged more than $4,000 in purchases.

Smith faces possible charges of identity theft, burglary, fraudulent use of a credit card and other charges.
