Many shoppers are trying to buy American for the 2012 holiday season. It's a great effort to help stimulate the economy and create jobs for American workers, but often times, buying American is a difficult proposition.
Two major reasons shoppers say they don't --or can't -- buy American are: A) It's too expensive B) It's hard to find American-made products in many stores nowadays.
By and large, these are two legitimate responses. Examine the products the next time you're strolling through the aisles of the traditional holiday shopping destinations and you'll likely struggle to find the words "Made in the USA" stamped on a box, label or tag.
However, there are a number of groups and websites that have done the hard work for concerned consumers, assembling lists of affordable American-made products while presenting the benefits of buying domestic. The following links provide information on the "Shop American" movement and pinpoint American-made products and where to buy them.
