AUBURN, CA - A bicyclist was hit by an Amtrak train while crossing a trestle Saturday afternoon.
The crash happened on Union Pacific Trestle over Interstate 80 around 1 p.m., Auburn police Sgt. Rick Hardesty said.
The man in his late 40s was walking his bike across the tracks when he was hit by the Amtrak. Hardesty said he was pronounced dead at the scene.
While police investigated the scene, all Union Pacific traffic was stopped.
Hardesty said the victim's name is being withheld until further notice.
