CERES, CA - Police need help to identify two suspects in a pizza shop robbery that happened Monday night.
The Ceres Cardinals Football team was hosting an event at Rico's Pizza, at 1460 Hatch Road, that lasted until midnight. The event was attended by players ages 6 to 13, parents, coaches and the organization's board of directors.
Around 11:55 p.m., one of the suspects approached the clerk behind the cash register and got into an argument with him, then the second suspect walked over to the clerk, around the counter and attacked him without being provoked, Ceres police Chief Art de Werk said.
The suspect hit the clerk several times and knocked him to the ground. The suspect then walked over to the cash register, threw it to the ground and took money from it.
Surveillance cameras recorded the event and the theft, de Werk said.
Throughout the event, the suspects were seen on camera talking to attendees, even sharing a table with the organization's president.
However, de Werk said that no one who attended the event would cooperate with police nor identify the suspects.
Suspect 1 is described as a Hispanic man in his late 20's, 6-feet tall, weighing about 250 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black Raiders hat and black Raiders Jersey with the number 20 on it.
