NEVADA COUNTY, CA - A man previously suspected of being a convicted murderer who escaped from Folsom Prison in 1987, was later confirmed to have not been a Folsom inmate.

Nevada County Sheriff Keith Royal said authorities obtained information that a man believed to be Glen Stewart Godwin was living in an apartment on Britney Springs Road.

According to Royal, officers spotted the man while staking out his apartment Wednesday morning and approached. At some point during their approach, a deputy fired one round but did not hit the man, said Royal.

The suspected escapee was then taken into custody without further incident. He was subsequently fingerprinted to confirm his identity and the results determined the man was not Godwin, but 45-year-old Christopher Lang, an escapee from a prison facility in Nevada.
