RANCHO CORDOVA, CA - Two children and a woman were found dead inside a Rancho Cordova home Tuesday afternoon, according to Rancho Cordova police.

The husband and father of the victims returned to the home on the 10000 block of De Soto Way around 3:30 p.m. to find the three dead. He ran to a neighbor's home to call police because he didn't have a phone with him.
A woman in her 20s, a 2-year-old boy and a 3-year-old girl were found dead in the home when officers arrived at the scene. While inside the home, officers heard a 6-month-old boy crying in another room.
Police said the three suffered extensive trauma, which indicates a violent death.
The 6-month-old boy was unharmed, police said.
The husband said the family's mini-van was gone when he got home. Police are looking for the mini-van: a white 2005 Chrysler Town & Country with California license plate 6LFY276.
Police do not have a suspect description, but believe the person driving the van is armed and dangerous.
As the night went on a second homicide team arrived to double efforts.
"We've got family members who showed up at the scene, so there are interviews to be conducted about what kind of dynamic was at play with the family," Sacramento Sheriff's Department Sgt. Jason Ramos said.
Investigators questioned the father as well as the neighbor who helped him call the police, but they insisted the two were not considered suspects.
Meanwhile, neighbors looked on trying to make sense of the tragedy as they worried about all that remains unknown.
"I do because it happened so close to home, especially being right next door," neighbor Faith Wilds said. "It's like 20 feet from our backyard."
