Young Shane Rogers who is battling Luekemia, stopped by the News10 studios to discuss a fundraiser at the El Dorado Hills fire station.
EL DORADO HILLS, CA - It's a fight that no child should ever face, but 8-year-old Shane Rogers is battling Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia, and his courage is inspiring others.
Rogers was diagnosed with the disease this past summer and is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatment. Rogers, an athletic third grader who loves basketball and karate, began experiencing back pain while on a family trip, and was diagnosed shortly afterward. But he's been getting a lot of support from members of the community, including the El Dorado Hills Fire Department, who made him an honoree firefighter for a day, and a group of soldiers stationed in Afghanistan, who all shaved their heads to support Shane.
Rogers and his family paid a visit to the News10 studios Monday to discuss a fundraiser they are holding on Monday, Oc.r 29 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at El Dorado Hills Fire Station #85. The event features a blood drive, face painting, a bake sale, carnival games, an auction table, and food and drinks.
The station is located at 1050 Wilson Boulevard in El Dorado Hills.
