SACRAMENTO, CA - In case you haven't noticed, things are really blooming outside. Sacramento hasn't had much of a winter and signs of spring are starting across the valley.
The uncharacteristically pleasant weather had led to sightings of plants, flowers, and concern over an early onset to allergy problems.
But is it premature? Those familiar with plants and flowers would tell you it certainly is. The General Manager at Matsunda's Nursery in Sacramento says he's seeing cherries, Forsythia, and the Flowering Quince already blooming in his garden, which usually doesn't happen until closer to March.
Doctors and therapists who treat people suffering from allergies are noticing something is in the air already. It has to do with things sprouting up earlier than usual, because of unseasonably warm temperatures.
Adina Robinson is a licensed acupuncturist in Sacramento. She uses traditional Chinese medicine to pinpoint allergies. Robinson says because of the early blooming, more and more allergy sufferers are coming in concerned they will be feeling symptoms early due to the unseasonably good weather.
Robinson believes acupuncture is effective, with about an 80 percent success rate when it comes to treating allergy reactions. She suggests that if you are considering acupuncture, you should get treatment now before your allergies kick in.
In the past, Sacramento has made the top 25 list as worst U.S. cities for allergies. If the warm weather continues, California's capital could be on its way to an early entrance on that list again.
