FAIRFIELD, CA - A Sacramento woman was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in a deadly three-vehicle crash in on Interstate 80 near Air Base Parkway early Sunday morning.
According to Officer Chris Parker of the Solano California Highway Patrol, Michelle Henry, 42, was driving a Buick Lucerne at a high speed directly behind a Ford Explorer. She hit the rear of the Ford and drove off the right-hand shoulder and into trees. Henry's collision into the Ford caused the SUV to cross over all the lanes, collide with the center divide and then overturn onto the middle lane.
The driver of the Ford, who has not yet been identfied and one of the passengers, Floyd Williams, Jr., were able to get out of the SUV. They then attempted to remove another passenger trapped in the overturned Ford.
That passenger, identified by family as Vincente Santos, was still in the SUV when a third car crashed into the rear of the Ford. The hit caused fatal injuries to both the driver of the third car and Santos.
Williams sustained minor injuries and was transported to North Bay Hospital.
All lanes of the westbound I-80 were closed for three hours for emergency crews to complete their investigation and clear the scene.
Henry was brought to North Bay Hospital and medically cleared. She was arrested by Juarez and booked into custody on suspicion of DUI and possession of a loaded firearm in a vehicle.
