ELK GROVE, CA - It should have been a quick and easy run. Instead, it ended in disaster for an Elk Grove man.
Several neighbors dialed 911 when they saw flames shooting from a home on Willow Pond Circle Monday around 5:30 p.m.

But by the time help arrived, the fire had moved quickly through the back of David Hutson's house, which he had left for a quick 2 mile run.
"That's my house. I ran up as fast as I could, opened up the door, but it was too late," Hutson said. "When I got home, the window already blew out the back of the house, hopefully the cat got out."
The next door neighbor was celebrating Vietnamese New Year and didn't realize the house was on fire. Nearby by neighbors who saw the flames told the next door neighbors to leave the home in case the fire spread.
Firefighters still don't know what caused the fire.
Hutson, an active military member, lost much of his military and personal information stored on his computers. But, he's grateful his wife was out of town when the fire broke out.
