VICTORVILLE -- A Sacramento veterinarian and other animal care professionals were called in to provide medical care to 150 dogs rescued from an animal hoarder.

The dogs were mixed breeds and were found on a property in Victorville, California.

Veterinarian Dr. Laura Warner, along with registered veterinary technician Cynthia Cutler and animal care technician Ricardo Gaitan helped the Humane Society of the United States Animal Rescue Team by vaccinating, de-worming, de-fleaing and micro-chipping the rescued dogs.

The owner of the property voluntarily surrendered all of the dogs to The Humane Society and the rescue will air on Animal Planet's Confessions: Animal Hoarding.

"This is an unfortunate case of an animal lover and rescuer who became overwhelmed, had limited resources and simply has more animals than she can properly care for," said Adam Parascandola, director of animal cruelty issues for The HSUS. "The Humane Society of the United States is grateful to Animal Planet for calling us in to help give these animals a second chance."

When the rescuers arrived on scene they found about 150 dogs, including dogs who were pregnant, nursing, diseased and injured, in outdoor pens.

The dogs will be placed with area shelters and rescue groups where they will be evaluated for adoption. PetSmart Charities® also donated much-needed sheltering supplies for the rescued animals.
