BALDWIN, N.Y. (AP) - You don't think of Long Island as gator country. But police officers have captured an alligator in the parking lot of a supermarket in Nassau County, New York.
The 2- to 3-foot-long gator was spotted Tuesday evening near a Pathmark store.
Officers captured it and turned it over to the county Emergency Services Unit.
The reptile is going to be given to a local wildlife expert.
