The 22 pit bulls, who were forced into the torturous world of dog fighting while under the ownership of football star Michael Vick, will get commemorated with their own brand of wine aptly titled 'Vicktory Dog'.

"As a signature collection, it's through the roof," Matt Hahn, co-owner of Carivintas Winery, a Southern California company that combines wine selling and philanthropy, told ajc.com. Hahn felt a need to show the dogs in a positive, uplifting light considering what they had been through.

The victimized dogs, Georgia, Handsome Dan, and Curly, to name a few, will each have their own bottles. Each bottle will feature a picture of the dog on the front of the label and a brief history of the pup's life on the back of the label.

According to ajcpets, the pit bulls have been staying at Best Friends, a 15-acre estate in southeastern Virginia, since January. Here, the trained handlers are fervently trying to reverse the effects of the excessive abuse that they experienced while under watch of Michael Vick. Vick is now serving a 2-year sentence for his involvement with the dog fighting operation which put these dogs' lives in imminent danger.

One of the founders of Best Friends started painting portraits of the dogs shortly after they arrived at the estate. "I think he's been able to capture the real personalities of each of the dogs," said John Polis, a Best Friends spokesman.

Ten percent of every sale will go to Best Friends, where they will use the proceeds toward opposing dog fighting throughout the country.

The entire set of Vicktory Dog wine, which includes 22 bottles and two others commemorating Best Friends' 25th anniversary, are going for $672. There is also the option to split the set in half and only pay $380. Each individual bottle is selling for $40.

Hahn hopes that the bottles will start spreading more awareness of animal cruelty. "We really use these things as a way to push the discussion further," Hahn said.
