CUPERTINO, Calif. - Over the next few months, Apple stores, including those in Sacramento, will be overwhelmed with requests for new iPad minis.
But there's a huge shortfall, and unfortunately for Apple, that means consumers may opt for a tablet from Google or Amazon instead.
So why would Apple not produce enough iPad minis? It appears that manufacturing the iPad Mini's new Retina display screen is a bit more difficult than expected.
Manufacturers are still working out the kinks, and according to various reports, up to half of the minis coming off the production line are being scrapped because of display issues.
So what can you do to get one? Check with your local Apple store regularly once the Mini goes on sale, and if they have any in stock, head out there immediately and grab one. And don't forget the other stores that carry them including Walmart and Target. ,
If you're not in a big hurry, you can always wait until the Spring. By that time, Apple should have resolved any supply issues.
