SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - To get a message to people on Facebook, you either have to be that person's friend - or have your message put in a part of their Inbox marked "other."
Lots of people ignore the "other" part of their Inbox because it often contains spam or other unwanted messages. But now Facebook is testing a service that will charge some users to make sure messages to non-friended users end up in their inboxes, not "other."
The cost per message is $1. And Facebook says the new service will make it possible to make sure a person you want to reach gets your message - and charging for it could help discourage spammers.
