STOCKTON, CA - Just two weeks ago, the Emergency Food Bank in Stockton had only 37 turkeys.  But thanks to the community, the food bank will be giving away 1,800 turkeys dinners for Thanksgiving.

More than 1,500 families are expected to receive Thanksgiving baskets.

The giveaway line wrapped around the corner Monday morning.  Some families had been waiting since 7 p.m. Sunday to make sure they would have a Thanksgiving meal to feed their family.

The Emergency Food Bank says no one will go home empty- handed.  If they run out of turkeys, they will have chicken, roasts and hams for those in need.

Many who are standing in line are working class families who have had their hours cut back or have lost their jobs. Coordinators say they are seeing a lot of new faces in line today.

Doors are open from 8 a.m. -1 p.m.

Emergency Food Bank still needs donations for its Christmas dinner drive on December 21.

Donations can be dropped off 8 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Monday - Friday at 7 West Scotts Avenue in Stockton.
