SACRAMENTO, CA - In a housing market flooded with bank-owned homes, one landmark property in east Sacramento still stands out.

"It's the biggest and the only double lot on the whole McKinley (Boulevard) and the most beautiful one," said Marri Castaneda, who grew up next door and has admired the home since childhood.

The five bedroom, four bath house at 3239 McKinley Boulevard across from the McKinley Park tennis courts last sold for $1.4 million three years ago and went back to the bank in March following a divorce of the owners.

"Young couple," Castaneda explained. "They just went different ways and left it."

According to the Metrolist multiple listing service, there has been no bank-owned home in east Sacramento of this size and vintage. The lender reduced the price this week from $949,000 to $890,000.

"You just don't see this type of home go to foreclosure sale. Not in the McKinley area," said listing agent Virginia Yarak of Premier Realty.

Yarak said there's been lots of interest in the home, but so far no buyer. She spoke to News10 the day before the price reduction and was hopeful it would lead to an offer.
