Adam Daniel (withdrew from race on May 7)
Training Manager

Statement: Adam Daniel chose to run because he cares very much about his city. I’m not a politician, but I am a tax payer. Citizens deserve better options then a rich basketball player.

Sacramento needs a candidate to connect with. Someone who feels the burden high taxes, lack of opportunity for graduating high school students and the social down slide of the K street area. Mayor Fargo has had her turn at the wheel of our city for long enough. Sacramento has been my home for years. I want the best, the best for the city and for the citizens.

Shawn Eldredge
Contractor/Midtown Activist

Statement: I started this campaign wanting transparency in government. I desperately wanting City Hall to teach us why they do what they do. To be accountable and explain to us, the people of Sacramento, without us having to beg, dig or scrounge to understand why they did what they did.

I wanted to force city leaders to be accountable for their actions. To feel the pain of their bad decisions and economic times. To understand how the self employed and/or the residents feel the pain of their own bad decisions and economic times. We have to be accountable for our actions so it is only right that our elected officials be accountable for theirs.

I have learned how the city revenue streams work and that all good things, i.e., police, fire, and community programs all are supported by our tax dollars. The importance of growth and development in Sacramento is clear. I am looking at how the city deals with development and how it seems to be difficult for Sacramento to pull off any deal or get smart development that benefits the people as opposed to just agreeing with what the developers want to give us.

It is obvious what our greatest need is. Sacramento needs a leader and a group of leaders (Mayor & council) who can convince the community ( both business and residents) as well as the rest of the world how great Sacramento is and can be.

We need a leader who truly believes that Sacramento is the most livable city in the world. Everything that comes in and out of City Hall needs emulate the greatness of our city! We should not concentrate on what does not work or what will not work. We should concentrate on the fact that it will work and is working, always! Until our leaders eat, drink, and sleep the greatness that is our city nobody else will.

ITS TIME TO REMIND OUR LEADERS THAT SACRAMENTO ROCKS! TO LET THEM KNOW THAT WE, THE PEOPLE, WILL NOT ACCEPT ANY LEADER WHO DOES NOT AGREE!

Heather Fargo
Current Mayor

Statement: In the last 4 years, we've built or are building 5,500,000 square feet of new restaurants, hotels, condos, shops, space for arts and entertainment, as well as offices in downtown Sacramento. That's a lot of jobs, housing and fun. Also approved - another 8,000,000 square feet not including the 10,000,000 more once we get the Railyards project going.

Our progress downtown generates funds we're using to provide police and fire services and build parks, community centers and libraries in our neighborhoods which are all improving. None of this easy. I couldn't do any of it without my colleagues on the City Council, our terrific city staff, our community and business partners throughout the City.

I see the progress because I work every day to make it happen. I know there's more to be done.

I lead by consensus. Most City Council votes are unanimous. And we’re going in the right direction.

On a personal note, my health is good but my multiple sclerosis makes it harder to walk. A good Mayor needs a good heart, a good head and a strong backbone and that's what I've got. I'd love to have your vote so I can finish what I've started.

Kevin Johnson
Entrepreneur/Community Activist

Statement: I was born and raised in Sacramento and believe that we can make it a city that works for everyone. People want to see a change in our city. Through strong leadership and clear vision, I can bring this change about. We can create new excitement, energy and momentum in the city through accountability, focus on results and bold action.

What the citizens of Sacramento want is simple. We want safe neighborhoods and streets. We want great schools for our children. Residents need access to jobs and affordable housing. We should have a strong, growing economy and an effective city government.

Sacramento can unite around this vision. It is possible. The work I've done has shown that. Over the last five years, I've worked to revitalize Oak Park. I have led efforts that resulted in the transformation of Sacramento High School, the creation of 17 businesses, 275 jobs, $11 million in economic development, and $14 million in philanthropic giving in the community.

Together, we can do the same thing across the city. As an elected official and public servant, I will be dedicated to ensuring we are a vibrant, safe city with a strong economy and excellent public schools.

Richard Jones
Real Estate Broker

Statement: I have no Website. My statement is simple. Clean up police procedures, see to it we keep or add to our teachers, fire fighter, EMT and paramedics by seeing to it they receive pay comparitive to other cities our size.

In addition, see problems with our youth, gangs, etc. starting with poor parental guidance. I belive parents should be held accountable and will try to pass a law making parents liable for not seeing to it that their children become good citizens.

As far as the Kings go and building another arena, I am firmly against this city putting out big bucks to keep the Maloofs happy. As far as the railroad and K Street. One way or another we must do what we can to clean up the mess we have to look at each day, including the homeless tent city by the airport. How we can do this is something I will look into but right now I do not have the knowledge I need to correct these things but they will be on my to do list.
