Wisconsin Sikh temple shooting suspect Wade Michael Page
South Milwaukee police have arrested the ex-girlfriend of the gunman in a shooting rampage at a Sikh temple in Wisconsin Sunday that left seven people, including the shooter, Wade Michael Page, dead.
Misty Cook, a 31-year-old nursing student, is tentatively facing a charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm, the Associated Press reports, quoting South Milwaukee police. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel notes that Cook has a previous felony conviction.
There was no immediate indication that Cook's arrest is linked to the shooting Sunday in Oak Creek that also left three people injured, including a police officer.
WISN-TV says the FBI confirms that Cook was arrested after officers, who were questioning her about the Sikh shooting, saw a gun in her apartment.
Before their breakup in June, Cook and Page lived in a South Milwaukee duplex, WISN-TV news reports.
Cook told Journal Sentinel earlier in an e-mail: "If I could say something to ease the pain of the victims and their families, I would gladly do so. Unfortunately, words do not begin to heal the pain they are going through."
The newspaper reports that Cook worked at a restaurant about a block away from the Sikh temple in suburban Milwaukee where the shootings took place.
Page has been identified as having strong ties to the white supremacist movement, but authorities so far have not specifically attached a motive to the killings in the Sikh temple.
