LOS ANGELES - Ellen DeGeneres addressed the proposed boycott launched by a division of the American Family Association, asking JCPenney to replace her as their spokesperson because she is a lesbian.

On the OneMillionMoms.com website, the group asked their supporters to take action against the retailer and to "Ask JCPenney to replace Ellen DeGeneres as their new spokesperson immediately and remain neutral in the culture war."

The group stated the choice of DeGeneres, a open lesbian, went against the viewpoints of the majority of shoppers who frequent the national chain, "JCPenney has made a poor decision and must correct their mistake fast to retain loyal customers and not turn away potential new, conservative shoppers with the company's new vision."

In response Ellen told the Huffington Post, "They [OneMillionMoms] wanted to get me fired, and I'm proud and happy to say that JCPenney stuck by their decision to make me their spokesperson," she says. "Which is great news for me because I also need some new crew socks."

Ellen will discuss the issue on her Wednesday program.
