STOCKTON, CA - A Stockton high school clerk faces charges after the woman allegedly had sex with a 17-year-old student, according to a Stockton Unified School District police spokesman.

Teresa Salcedo, 28, was arrested Tuesday and booked on charges of felony unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor as well as misdemeanor counts of unlawful sex and child molestation, Stockton Unified police chief Jim West said.

Salcedo, an administrative clerk at Stagg High School since last October, was arrested just six hours after the parents of the male student reported the incident around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday to a Stagg vice principal, Stockton Unified School District superintendent Carl Toliver said.

"It's a terrible thing. It's very unfortunate if it's true. We don't condone that behavior at all," Toliver said.

Salcedo was arrested at her job at Stagg High School without incident, West said.

West said investigators determined at least one sexual encounter happened at a private residence, but it was unclear whether there were other meetings between Salcedo and the student.

"None of the alleged activity took place on school district property," West said. West said there were not believed to be any other victims in case.

Salcedo was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation, Toliver said. She remained held Wednesday on $18,000 bail.
