WOODLAND, CA - Some Yolo County convicted sex offenders were taken off the street Tuesday in a sweep for offenders found to be in violation of their parole or probation sentences.
Of 129 registered sex offenders contacted, there were 12 arrests, including five in West Sacramento. Most of the violations were for possession of child pornography, according to the Yolo County district attorney's office. Computers, DVDs and an iPhone were seized.
District Attorney Jeff Reisig said new technology has made it easier for law enforcement to uncover pornographic files hidden on laptops and iPhones.
Nearly 100 law enforcement officers from several agencies participated in the first "Operation Vigilance."
