SLIDESHOW: Bassmasters hit Stockton
STOCKTON, CA - The Bassmaster professional fishing tour has arrived in Stockton and the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta. The competition runs through Sunday.
Bassmaster fans like James Alexander couldn't be happier.
"I spend every Saturday watching "Bassmaster" (on television). You wish it was you (fishing), especially with $100,000 (in winnings). You really wish it was you then," said Alexander.
Ninety-three fishermen hit the delta Thursday and the same number will compete Friday. Saturday, the number of competitors will be reduced by about half, and on Sunday, the final day of competition, the number will be 12.
Fishermen are limited to five fish each day, and they're scored on the weight of the fish they catch. All of the bass caught are kept alive through the weighing process and then returned to the water.
The fish weighing takes place each afternoon at 3:30 at Weber Point Events Center.
